new year's guacamole

I LOVE guacamole. So when it came to New Year's and I was going to a party I decided to find 'the best guacamole ever' recipe. After typing in that exact phrase, my friend Google informed me that this was in fact 'the best guacamole ever.' This recipe is by Food Network star Alton Brown (not my favorite on the network but he knows his stuff). And I give the recipe to you all so that you too can share in it's goodness:

Ingredients
3 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
1 lime, juiced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1/2 medium purple onion, diced
2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
1 clove garlic, minced

Directions
In a large bowl place the scooped avocado pulp and lime juice, toss to coat. Drain, and reserve the lime juice, after all of the avocados have been coated. Using a potato masher add the salt, cumin, and cayenne and mash. Then, fold in the onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Add 1 tablespoon of the reserved lime juice. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then serve.

** Modifications by me: add a dash of fresh ground pepper, add more cilantro (if you're into that kind of thing, which I totally am), add one minced serrano chile depending on your desired hotness. Oh and use one of these babies if at all possible:

(You can't 'click to enlarge' so don't try ;) My mom gave me hers because she doesn't really cook much anymore. They're only like $15 but a great investment. I hate cutting up onions and this thing did it in like 3 seconds. It also cut up garlic, cilantro, you name it. Perfect for guacamole making and many other things I'm sure.

Note: When bringing guacomole to a "party", please come to a "party" expecting to "party", as opposed to a "party-pooper". Nobody likes the aforementioned "party-pooper" even though the guac was good stuff.
