how to make something ugly, semi-cute {we hope}

Dave and I salvaged an old (and ugly I might add), dark burgundy, filing cabinet.... where oh where could we put that? So I thought I might spiff it up a little and I have no idea how to. After talking to my best friend (Google), we decided that the best and cheapest way to re-do a metal filing cabinet is to spray paint it. But what color?? I guess that all depends on what I'm going to paint that room (when I get around to it). Any ideas? A girl did a post on apartmenttherapy.com where she added cute, wall paper on the front of the filing drawers here. Am I capable of doing something like that? We'll just have to wait and see...

But in the mean time I would appreciate any input from all you people out there who read this blog post :)

Well, I am not an artsy crafty kind of girl so I don't think I'll be of any help. But I wanted to let you know that I read your post and tried to come up with an idea. It just didn't come to me. Ü

Can't wait to see it when it's done.

You could totally fix it up. My aunt spray paints everything! She usually uses a deep espresso brown, but you could do whatever worked in your room. I've seen her spray paint door knobs, light switch plates, cabinet hardware, light fixtures, lamp bases, you name it, she'd do it. I have a picture frame that is very brassy and gold (not my style, but I like the texture on the frame) and she's going to help me spray it brown or black. Good luck!
