it's one of my favorite holidays

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I love this holiday, couldn't tell you why.
Maybe it's because I'm a red head and feel akin to it somehow
{I did have one ancestor from Ireland, mostly they were Welch}.

**Did you know, most redheads in the world are in/from Scotland, not Ireland.
It's true.

I mostly fell in love with this holiday after I was married, for reasons unknown to me.
Maybe it's because I'm reminded that spring is seriously around the corner everytime this holiday rolls around. Maybe it's because green one of my favorite colors. Maybe because I love that it's a different nation's holiday but we celebrate it anyways and it makes me feel a little closer to the The Green Isle. I just don't know.

My tradition:
watching this ridiculous but wonderful 60's Disney movie

Darby O'Gill and the Little People

{And yes, that is Sean Connery in his younger years and I love him in it.}

Yay! Even thought it will be slightly belated, I am excited we will be watching this over the weekend, though it must be said: as adorable as Janet Munro is, what is with her hack-job bangs?! Also, shall we make some mac-n-cheese and dye it green or something?

Dude, haven't seen that movie in about 10 million years. I may learn to re-love St Patty's day for that reason. :)

Hayls - no more mac-n-cheese! And especially not green, bleh. I can't eat colored food, it makes me gag.

And I totally agree with you on the hack-job bangs, poor Janet. At least she got to kiss Sean Connery!

That's my family's tradition too. St Patty's day is my brother's birthday, so we always watched it for his birthday. As soon as it came out on DVD, I bought a copy for everyone in the family. Love it! Oh she is my dear, my darling one...
