a little slice of heaven

So I'm starting to get into the 'fall spirit' (it takes me longer than most). Probably the hardest part of me accepting fall is because it means that cold is coming... I HATE being cold. When Dave and I were going to get married I told him that one of the things that he would have to make sure to do as my spouse was keep me warm... and I don't mean that in a 'wink, wink' kind of way (which I think he thought it was), no; I meant he really has to make a conscious effort to keep my body at a reasonable temperature.

I've found that one of my favorite things when it's nippy outside is warm drinks, in particular Starbucks' steamed milk with hazelnut.... ahhhh. Love the hazelnut. That's my little slice of heaven for one warm minute in time. I'm not a coffee or tea drinker but props to Starbucks on their steamed milk and, I might add, their amazing caramel apple cider. If you haven't had one of these before do yourself a favor and stop on by. A sip of that deliciousness means 'fall/winter' to me and makes it somewhat bearable. I've never made steamed milk myself before (other than just heating it on the stove) and I think you need an espresso machine, which I have no need for other than steamed milk so... I guess Starbucks will be my friend this winter.

On another note, since I'm getting excited for fall which culminates on the 31st, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I have a "Froth Au Lait" that I got at Smiths for $30. It's over by the blenders and toasters. It makes steamers that taste really similar to Starbucks. You can also use it to make creamy hot chocolate and other yummy hot drinks.

Oh I'm totally going to have to get one of those Rachel.... Christmas is coming so it might end up on my wish list... or I might just have to indulge and get one beforehand ;D

Thanks for the tip!

And Ariel it is fun finally getting into the season, takes me awhile but I do love it (just love summer more ;D).

Steamers are the best. During the winter, if I'm at the Gateway, it's a must for me.

I'm glad that you are finally excited for Fall even though your beloed Summer is over. Sigh. I need to get to Starbucks now, but I want to try the Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate. Mmmmm. Oh, and I love your new header pic. What amazing friend gave you the idea to go vintage? ;)

Hayley that idea came from you of course! What creative imaginative friend you are. ;D

Rachel - I went to Smiths and they didn't have them :( But they told me they usually get that stuff after Halloween so I guess I'll just have to wait. It was like $50 on Amazon so I'm hoping I get a steal from Smiths. I told Dave there were no 'if's, and's, or but's about it' - we're getting one. Think of all the money I'll save in the long run! Not to mention hours of happiness sipping from that steaming mug of milk :D

Kirst, we got one at Bed Bath and Beyond for $30. That was 2 yrs ago, but I can't imagine them being $50 now. They are a MUST during the winter season. We usually just do hot cocoa in ours--I'll have to venture out with steamers.

Mar-

Was it that exact brand? I did some research and the 'Froth Au Lait' seemed to be the best. But if yours makes really frothy foam then I'll check it out. The Mr. Coffee one was another cheaper version but it just didn't seem quite as good on the reviews I read.

I guess you guys'll have to invite us over until we can get our own ;D
