the secret life of bees

Just finished reading this book this weekend and really enjoyed it, except that it made me really want to eat anything with honey in it and I don't even like honey! Has anyone seen the movie? I've heard mixed reviews. And it's no where to be found at my dear Redbox at the Maverick!

"...some things don't matter much. Like the color of a house. How big is that in the overall scheme of life? But lifting a person's heart--now, that matters. The whole problem with people is...they know what matters, but they don't choose it...The hardest thing on earth is choosing what matters." — Sue Monk Kidd (The Secret Life of Bees)

Good book Kirst. It's been like 10 years since I read it, but it's been one of my fave's ever since. I tried another of Sue Monk Kidd's book later on..."The Mermaid Chair" and it was VERY racy. I wouldn't recommend it.
Like I told you the other night, I fell asleep in the movie. But, I fall asleep in LOTS of movies. :)

I actually liked the movie (and Brady did too, but he didn't read the book), but it had been years since I read the book, so maybe I just liked it because I didn't remember it.

Hmm, I hated this book! And I really can't remember why...I read it on various trains in Europe and remember thinking "what a waste of time". Is that a wrong way to remember it? Perhaps I should read it again to give it a second chance...:)
